The Billboard and Hollywood Reporter staffs want to say thank you to everyone who participated in and attended The Hollywood Reporter/Billboard Film & TV Music Conference last week at the Beverly Hilton.
Alan Menken: Thank you for sharing such personal stories about the writing process.
Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan: You guys made the audience cry with laughter with your stories and the songs from “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.” Thanks for bringing in your entire songwriting crew with guitars.
Sondre Lerche: We still can’t believe you spontaneously pulled out your guitar and played for us. We appreciated you showing us “Dan in Real Life.”
Jesse Harris: We still can’t believe you performed your songs from “The Hottest State” — and let Sondre use your guitar pickup.
Glen Ballard: As Sondre and Jesse said, we all look up to you. You are an icon. And yes, thank goodness you read “Beowulf” in high school.
Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman: We know the stress you guys are under right now; thank you for being there.
Sean Penn, Eddie Vedder and Michael Brook: You brought us “Into the Wild.”
Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova: Thank goodness “Once” wasn’t just a DVD release, like you thought it would be. Your performance moved us all, and your standing ovation was most deserved.
Brad Bird and Michael Giacchino: We love “Ratatouille.”
Laura Engel, Harry Gregson-Williams, Jay Faires, Robert Kraft, Mitchell Leib, Steven Schnur, Lia Vollack — masters of the master class panel: You all make the business go ’round.
To the music supervisors who made Day 2 of the conference so incredible: Thank you for your hard work on making it happen.
To the many composers, musicians, agents, producers, artists and executives — you know who you are — who lent their hands and voices to this conference, we salute you.
To the audience: We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you for your cheers. Come back next year.
