70% in session for ‘Family Court’
LAS VEGAS — Program Partners and 44 Blue Prods.’ new syndicated court show “Family Court With Judge Penny” has been cleared in more than 70% of the U.S. for a fall launch. “Family Court” affiliates include WNYW/WWOR in New York, KTTV/KCOP in Los Angeles and WCIU/WWME in Chicago. The half-hour first-run series stars Penny Brown Reynolds, a court judge and licensed minister.
‘Doctors’ on Canada house call
LAS VEGAS — “The Doctors,” CBS’ first-run syndie strip for the fall, has been picked up by Canada’s Global TV at NATPE. Hosted by Dr. Travis Stork, the show investigates and discusses such hot-button medical topics as painkillers, obesity, addictions, what not to feed your child and why some vaccines can be dangerous. “Doctors” will be produced by Stage 29 Prods. in association with CBS Television Distribution. CBS Paramount International Television handles all international sales, including Canada.
Lionsgate pacts: S. Africa, Israel
LAS VEGAS — Lionsgate has inked two multiyear programming deals at NATPE, with M-Net South Africa and Yes, a DBS satcaster in Israel. Series include “Mad Men” and “The Kill Point.” “Our relationships with these two companies have become stronger and stronger over the years, so it was a natural progression for us to look at long-term value with a long-term strategy,” Lionsgate executive vp sales Craig Cegielski said.
