Despite fewer attendees from abroad and thinner wallets in tow, several Hollywood players unveiled programming deals as NATPE kicked off its 2009 Market & Conference on Monday at the Mandalay Bay Resort.
Warner Bros. has licensed 550 hours of movies and series to Liberty Global’s multichannel operator Chello Zone.
Viacom’s MTV Networks Latin America has licensed a slew of programming from Hollywood majors, including its sibling Paramount, NBC Universal and MGM, as well as from indie players Lionsgate, Fremantle, RDF, Reveille, Target Entertainment and Beyond.
On the domestic side, MGM Domestic TV and Weigel Broadcasting have expanded the station lineup for their new digital service THIS TV, and Litton Entertainment has declared its new series “Street Court” a firm go for a fall launch and said “Storm Stories” will be back for a second season in broadcast syndication.
In other NATPE news:
>Comcast’s E! Entertainment offshoot Style Network has sealed channel launches in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Lithuania and Portugal.
No financial details were made available for any of these deals, but most pundits here think prices are beginning to slip. (partialdiff)
