LONDON — NBC Universal has extended its Polish footprint with the launch of fully localized versions of the Sci Fi and Universal channels to 200,000 digital homes on the year-old digital DTH platform n, part of the ITI group, it was announced Monday.
The channels will air sci-fi, drama, entertainment and blockbuster movies to one of the most crowded television markets in Eastern Europe, debuting such shows as “Dexter,” “Flash Gordon,” “Brotherhood ” and “Cane” as well as movies including “Bean,” “Apollo 13” and “Waterworld.”
“We’re thrilled to be establishing Sci Fi and Universal Channel in a market as significant as Poland,” said Roma Khanna, president of NBC Universal global networks and digital initiatives. “These strategic launches underscore our expansion plans and the global popularity of our brands.”
