NEW YORK — Lisa Gersh, who has served as NBC Universal’s president of strategic initiatives and managing director of the Weather Channel, is taking on a new management role at NBC News, effective immediately.
Gersh will oversee the division’s business development and joint venture partnerships, including with the Weather Channel. She will report directly to NBC News president Steve Capus. As spokeswoman said she will retain her title.
Capus said Wednesday, “I have had the pleasure of working closely with Lisa during the acquisition of the Weather Channel and have been consistently impressed by her hard work, dedication and talents.”
Capus’ announcement further signals the news division’s focus on expanding and growing its global reach.
Gersh joined NBC Uni in Nov. 2007 after the company acquired Oxygen Media.
