Sulzer senior vp at Overture
Overture Films has beefed up its marketing division by hiring Elana Sulzer as senior vp media. Before joining Overture, she was vp media at Universal Pictures, where she developed and executed advertising strategies for such films as “The Mummy” franchise, “Seabiscuit,” “Ray” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.” Sulzer, who began her career at Universal nearly a decade ago, supervised media planning and buying on cable, new media, network television and syndication for the studio.
TNR putting Genthert in play as CFO
TNR Entertainment on Monday named former Walt Disney Co. finance executive Robert Genthert CFO of the DVD rental kiosk company. Genthert’s more than 20 years of finance experience include an 11-year tenure at Disney, where he most recently was vp worldwide finance at Buena Vista Home Entertainment. He subsequently served as CFO of Warner Bros. Online. Genthert will be responsible for all of TNR’s finance, reporting and accounting activities, including funding to further support the company’s expanding network of grocery store partnerships and penetration of new markets across the country.
Oxygen hires Consuelos, Velazquez
Mark Consuelos and “My Name Is Earl” co-star Nadine Velazquez have been tapped to star in the Oxygen original movie “Husband for Hire.” Mario Lopez, Erik Estrada and Tempestt Bledsoe round out the cast of the tentatively titled romantic comedy. Velazquez stars as Lola, a Latina businesswoman who has to get married or she will lose her share of a family fortune. Consuelos plays Nate, the man she hires as her husband-to-be. The movie, from executive producers Tim Perell and Howard Gertler of Process Media and writer-director Kris Isacsson, begins shooting this week on location in New Mexico and is scheduled to premiere this year.
PostWorks taps Cam as new director
Sandie Cam has been named managing director of the theatrical services group at PostWorks, New York. Cam joins PostWorks from EFilm and its parent, Deluxe Laboratories, where she was producer of business development and marketing at EFilm and interim assistant counsel at Deluxe. PostWorks also announced the promotion of Matthew Reedy to senior digital intermediate producer. He has produced DI projects for films like Christopher Zalla’s “Padre Nuestro.”
Foster goes multiplatform at ABC Ent.
Wendell Foster has been named to the new position of vp multiplatform program planning and scheduling at ABC Entertainment, serving as the primary liaison between scheduling and numerous departments — including digital media, current programming, affiliate relations, sales, news, ESPN and research — for all multiplatform and nonprimetime scheduling of all ABC primetime series. He was vp research at ABC Inc.
QD3 finds president, COO in Campbell
QD3 Entertainment has named Paul Campbell its president and COO. A former director of business development at Microsoft Corp., Campbell is charged with taking the urban entertainment company to new digital platforms and expanding its international presence. Since joining QD3, he has spearheaded the launch of QD3.com.
