On the heels of last weekend’s strong box office opening for “Wolverine,” the Nicktoons cable network has ordered another 26 episodes of “Wolverine and the X-Men” from Marvel Animation.
That brings the show’s order to 52 half-hour episodes. The new animated series follows Wolverine as he reunites the X-Men. It was the network’s highest-rated original series premiere ever with kids on Jan. 23.
“Wolverine and the X-Men is a proven hit with our audience who can’t get enough of this new action-packed series,” said Keith Dawkins, Nicktoons Network general manager. “We are excited to continue working with Marvel to bring viewers the next chapter for these super heroes.”
Led by Marvel Animation’s “Wolverine” and “Iron Man: Armored Adventures” Nicktoons bills itself as the fastest-growing kids network, posting recent double-digit ratings gains compared to last year. New episodes of “Wolverine” will begin on May 22.
