Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci and Wren Arthur, the trio behind Olive Prods., have set up their first TV projects: a drama at HBO starring Tucci and an animated comedy at TBS to be voiced by Tucci and Buscemi.
The projects stem from Olive’s first-look deal with Lionsgate Television, which is on board to co-produce the shows.
The untitled HBO project, written by “Six Degrees” co-creator Stu Zicherman, is a family drama with Tucci as a brilliant, one-time powerful politician struggling to rebuild his career and relationships with his family and friends after being brought down by a scandal.
Zicherman, Tucci, Buscemi and Arthur are executive producing.
“Good and Evel” is an animated family comedy for TBS from “Daria” co-creator and “The Colbert Report” writer Glenn Eichler that revolves around twin brothers Jack Good and Bo Evel. Stolen by gypsy cab drivers at birth and taught how to behave and drive badly, Bo is a career petty criminal, and Jack bends over backward to mend his brother’s ways and help his dysfunctional family.
Lionsgate and Olive are co-producing the project with the Gotham Group, whose Lee Stollman and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein are exec producing with Eichler, Buscemi, Tucci and Arthur.
“In just a few short months, our collaboration with Stanley, Steve and Wren has already yielded an exciting development slate, and these first two script orders are just the beginning,” said Lionsgate executive vp television Barbara Wall.
Olive has other shows in development under its Lionsgate deal.
Buscemi and Tucci launched Olive Prods. in 2007 with Arthur, who had worked with director Robert Altman for 11 years.
On the feature side, Olive has 15 projects in development. Two of them, “The Hunter,” written and to be directed by Tucci, and “The Lone Surfer of Montana, Kansas,” written and to be directed by Buscemi, are slated to enter production within the next year.
Buscemi, Zicherman and Eichler is repped by WME. Tucci is with CAA.
