International TV veteran Christopher Ottinger is moving to MGM’s Worldwide Television Group as executive vp , international television distribution.
He will have direct oversight of MGM’s pay television licensing and business development activities outside of the U.S. and Canada.
The move reunites him with MGM worldwide TV co-president Gary Marenzi who said Wednesday, “Chris is an experienced and talented executive whose broad skill set will serve us well in MGM’s entrepreneurial environment,” said Marenzi. “Having collaborated with Chris during his first stint at MGM as well as at Paramount, I am pleased to welcome him back to the MGM team.”
Ottinger will be based at MGM’s headquarters in Los Angeles and report to Marenzi. He will work closely with Marenzi on overall international TV sales planning as well as collaborating on acquisitions and programming initiatives.
Ottinger most recently was executive vp for both Fox World and Fox Television Studios International where he oversaw the production of over 30 format productions per year. He launched the unit’s scripted format and scripted series sales operations and set up production companies in India and France. He also managed production companies in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Previously, Ottinger spent nine years, from 1997 to 2005, as senior vp of business development and co-production for Paramount International Television. From 1993 to 1997, Ottinger was executive director, business affairs for MGM’s international and domestic television operations.
