The strike that has shut down many popular theatrical productions in New York is getting ugly. Late Tuesday, producers of nine popular shows filed a $35 million lawsuit in Manhattan Federal Court against members of Local One of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and its president James Claffey Jr.
Meanwhile, State Court Justice Helen Freedman took pity on the producer of “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical,” ordering an injunction to reopen the show. “”The interests of the public are overwhelming,” said Freedman.
