NEW YORK — Promax/BDA, the nonprofit association for creative and strategic TV marketing and design professionals, has named Jonathan Block-Verk its new president.
Block-Verk, who comes to Promax/BDA after four years as vp/group publisher and executive producer of events for the commercial production industry’s Boards Magazine, will assume the presidency in January.
“Jonathan’s extensive multiplatform background will be a tremendous benefit to the Promax/BDA organization as we look to offer our membership more opportunities for interactive and peer-to-peer engagement,” said Promax/BDA chairman Michael Benson, who is executive vp marketing at ABC. “This, coupled with his wealth of long-standing relationships and hands-on experience in event production, advertising and marketing, confirms that our extensive search process ultimately led us to the ideal candidate for this unique leadership position.”
Block-Verk will be charged with the overall management of the association and will work with the Promax/BDA board on long-term growth strategies.
“I’m energized by the incredible opportunities for growth and enrichment I see within the Promax/BDA organization,” Block-Verk said. “Being able to share my ideas, expertise and relationships to help amplify the value and services we provide and create new opportunities for the membership is very exciting. I’m looking forward to being part of a team that is facilitating the fundamental conversations about marketing, promotion and design and their roles in the monetization of content in the digital age.”
Lee Hunt, a long-standing Promax/BDA member, will continue to serve as interim managing director of Promax/BDA until Block-Verk assumes the presidency. Hunt was appointed interim managing director following the ouster of longtime Promax/BDA president and CEO Jim Chabin in February.
Block-Verk joins Promax/BDA from Canada’s Brunico Communications, where he was publisher and executive producer of events for Boards Magazine. In this position, he directed the relaunch of the commercial production trade magazine’s Web site, launched Boards iMag and developed several annual directories.
