R&B star Ne-Yo (real name: “Shaffer Smith”) is claiming in a new lawsuit that R. Kelly (left) booted him off a joint tour and breached a contract. Ne-Yo was set to earn $785,000 for opening for Kelly, but “according to many reporters, critics, and fans, the reaction to Smith (was) at least as positive as the reaction to the featured act, R. Kelly,” says the complaint.
This is the second time that R. Kelly’s alleged sensitivities wrecked a tour. In 2004, Jay-Z and R. Kelly tangled in court over the collapse of the duo’s “Best of Both Worlds” tour.
