The producers of Family Guy, known for irreverent mailers to Emmy voters, have taken a sharp-edged turn. Their latest depicts the show’s dad character sneering: “Come on, you bloated overprivileged Brentwood Jews. Let us into your little club.” (Several outlets, including THR, rejected the ad.) Lynn Von Kersting, who’s hosted the industry for decades at The Ivy, is going Hollywood herself. She co-directed Mont Reve, a drama about a Swiss boarding school that was at market in Cannes. It co-stars her USC film-grad daughter, India Irving, and was shot at Von Kersting’s house in the Hollywood Hills, the former estate of director George Cukor. Ofir’s Next Casting Move
Doron Ofir, the casting magician behind zeitgeist-tapping reality shows like Jersey Shore and Showbiz Moms & Dads, is on the hunt for the next Kris Jenner or Dina Lohan for his in-development Momagers. “It’s about the business behind the stage moms,” he tells THR exclusively. “The showcases, the sacrifices — it’s a full-time job.” Ofir says he’s zeroing in on competitive mothers of talented, not wannabe, kids in hopes that he’ll document what will be, in retrospect, big success stories that “go back into the life of a Lea Michele or a Justin Bieber.” He adds: “How does someone get a role on a Big Time Rush or a Pretty Little Liars? There is so much drama in the background. You are swimming with sharks!”
