Survivor, finally, is heading to Germany.
The long-running reality hit, currently in its 37th season on CBS, has been picked up for a local-language remake by German commercial network Vox and its streaming service TV Now.
Banijay Group, the France-based conglomerate that holds the worldwide rights to the Survivor format, announced the Vox sale ahead of MIPCOM, the international TV market, which runs Oct.15-18 in Cannes.
Banijay’s local production outfit Banijay Productions Germany will produce the German version for Vox.
Survivor has proved one of the world’s most successful reality formats, with local versions in more than 40 territories worldwide.
The U.S. version of Survivor, created by Charlie Parsons, has been the most commercially and critically successful, winning a total of seven primetime Emmys.
