There’s always room for one more! Screenwriter Adam Sachs has been hired to rewrite “Aardvark Art’s Ark” for producer Donald De Line and original writer-star Casey Affleck. Warner Bros. picked up Affleck’s animated family-film spec two years ago. Affleck also is an executive producer on the film.
Sachs will work with De Line, Affleck and De Line Pictures executive Andrew Hass to rework the story of a group of animals who are stranded when they are not chosen to go on Noah’s ark.
“(Sachs) had a really good energy,” said Affleck, who will stay involved with the script’s development despite his busy acting schedule. “It’s hard to tell what someone’s going to write based on how they describe a script or story or a character. That said, here was a guy who seemed to really like the things that I liked about it, and he thought the same things were funny that I thought were funny about the story and about the characters.”
Sachs, repped by WMA and Energy Entertainment, sold the comedy spec “Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty” to Lionsgate in May.
Affleck, repped by Endeavor and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, co-wrote “Gerry” with Matt Damon in 2002. He most recently starred in “Gone Baby Gone” and was nominated for a supporting actor Oscar for “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” He is attached to star in Tom Epperson’s “The Kind One,” which Ridley Scott is producing for Warners.
