Seth Rogen’s newly launched cannabis lifestyle brand site, Houseplant, crashed Thursday due to the overwhelming demand. The site was so inundated, Rogen said it needed to be taken down temporarily.
“Well … we have underestimated you once again,” Rogen tweeted. “Due to insane traffic, we took the Houseplant site down temporarily while I learn to write code. I’m very sorry if you’ve been waiting. There’s still a lot of products available! I will let you know as soon as it’s up again.”
The actor and marijuana advocate/businessman said previously that the site encountered a “tremendous amount of traffic” and for those trying to get in to have patience.

The site offers cannabis (for delivery in California) and home goods, such as ashtrays and lighters.
The company was founded by Rogen and his writing partner, Evan Goldberg, as well as producers James Weaver and Alex McAtee.
In a recent New York Times profile, the actor said, “I’m honored to be associated with weed, honestly. Sometimes people expect me to try to wiggle out from under being a very famous stoner, or someone who, in some ways, is more famous for being someone who smokes weed than anything else that they have done. But truthfully, that is a worthy thing to me. I’m as proud of it as anything.”
The cannabis lifestyle brand debuted in Canada in 2019 and entered the U.S. market Thursday.
Overwhelmed by the response, Rogen took time to respond to some users who were having issues getting on the site, telling them to hang in there.
“Hi!! We are experiencing a tremendous amount of traffic right now. Thank you! We have a nice little waiting room set up on the website to manage this. If you are having trouble accessing the waiting room, please try refreshing your browser or clearing your cache. Thank you yay!!” he tweeted.
10:20 a.m.: Updated that the site was taken down.
