LONDON — Shine International, part of Elisabeth Murdoch‘s Shine Group, has inked two distribution deals for ITV’s Code of Killer and Channel 5’s Rome: The World’s First Superpower.
Code of a Killer, produced by World Productions for commercial broadcaster ITV, details the true story of Alec Jeffreys’ discovery of DNA fingerprinting in the 1980s and its first use a detective played by David Threlfall to solve a double murder.
James Strong (Broadchurch/Gracepoint) is set to direct the two-part drama, which is scheduled to begin filming in late September.
Co-produced by 360Production and GroupM Entertainment for Channel 5, Rome: The World’s First Superpower takes a look at all of the major heroes and villains from Hannibal and Julius Caesar to Spartacus and Cleopatra and tells the story of how one small city among many conquered the world and then ran it for nearly 1000 years.
