Six Flags Magic Mountain Will Partially Reopen Next Week

Six Flags Magic Mountain will partially reopen next week, the theme park announced Friday.

The Los Angeles County destination got creative to work around stringent restrictions put in place by the state because of the pandemic.

For the first time, Six Flags Magic Mountain will be a drive-through experience with millions of lights, festive holiday theming and seasonal music favorites, according to the park officals.

“We are delighted to be reopening our park to safely celebrate the holidays with this unprecedented and magical event,” Six Flags Magic Mountain President Don McCoy said in a statement. “We have successfully transformed the traditional operation of our beloved Holiday in the Park into a new drive-through experience that is sure to delight guests and team members alike. We are proud and honored to help our guests create special holiday memories, and to provide a feeling of hope and a small reprieve during this very difficult year.”

The park will be open select nights beginning Nov. 20 through Jan. 3, 2021.

The move comes as major theme parks in SoCal remain locked in a bitter battle with Gov. Gavin Newsom, whose conditions to reopen have been called “unworkable.”

During an earnings call Thursday, Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Chapek took a few shots at Newsom over the statement. Disneyland being shuttered since mid-March has cost the company billions of dollars and tens of thousands of employees their jobs.
