Music-streaming company Spotify has added four new board members, including former Walt Disney COO Tom Staggs who was seen as the likely successor of Disney boss Bob Iger before the surprise news in April 2016 that the no. 2 executive was stepping down.
The other new board members are Shishir Mehrotra, YouTube’s former head of product; Padmasree Warrior, who heads of the U.S. unit of Chinese electric auto firm NextEV; and Cristina Stenbeck of Swedish investment firm Kinnevik.
THR confirmed the appointments, first reported by the Financial Times.
The addition of Staggs brings further entertainment industry expertise to the company’s board, which previously added Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. Spotify has been understood to be looking at expanding its video offerings.
