NEW YORK — Just in time for the holiday season, the new Manhattan-based theater company Cause Celebre is launching with a star-filled lineup of issue-oriented plays to benefit charities.
Each month a new production will be staged with such actors as Matthew Modine, Danny Aiello, Marlo Thomas, Rue McClanahan, Elizabeth Wilson, Christine Ebersole and Mercedes Ruehl, with proceeds going to a cause related to the play.
The first production on Dec. 9 at the Players theater will be a comic drama about Nick Springer’s experiences with Meningococcal Meningitis, featuring a performance by singer KT Sullivan, to benefit the National Meningitis Assn.
