SINGAPORE – Producers Sukee Chew and Andrew Ooi have established a new production and management outfit, The COcreative Company. Chew is launching at ScreenSingapore her producing project Jesus Henry Christ, executive produced by Julia Roberts and her Red Om Films, directed by Dennis Lee and starring Michael Sheen, Toni Collette and newcomer Jason Spevack (Sunshine Cleaning).
Both born and raised in Singapore, Chew of Hopscotch Pictures in Los Angeles and talent manager Ooi of Echelon Talent Management in Vancouver set up The COcreative Company to package and produce films involving their clients. Upcoming projects include a Dennis Lee-directed biopic starring Maggie Q, a romantic comedy starring Archie Kao (CSI and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan), and a Singapore-set thriller by Todd Slawsby rewritten with the support of Singapore’s Media Development Authority.
Previous credits of Chew include Dark Tide, directed by John Stockwell and starring Halle Berry and Oliver Martinez, and Fireflies in the Garden, starring Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe and Julia Roberts. Ooi had executive produced, through his Hong Kong-based production company 852 Films, the Josie Ho-starring slasher pic Dream Home, and The Courier, by Oscar nominated director Hany Abu Assad, and starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Josie Ho and Mickey Rourke.
