Park City police officers broke up a Sundance party thrown by the William Morris Endeavor talent agency early Sunday morning.
Officers were called to a private residence in the tiny Deer Valley section of Park City around 1 a.m. after the property manager for the home arrived and found a packed house of revelers. WME’s indie division traditionally hosts a small gathering for clients and other industry insiders at the home where its agents stay during the festival, but this year’s fete was much larger, according to those who were there.
“It was totally packed,” says an insider. “You could barely move around.”
WME agents had sent out an email invite days before the event to a few “targeted” industry insiders and talent with projects at the festival. But the invite made its way to a much broader audience, prompting the overcrowding.
When the property manager for the residence arrived, an attendee says the manager informed the hosts that the party was not authorized and that the police had been called. When officers arrived, guests scattered in an orderly fashion, and no incidents or arrests were reported.
