Lois Zetter, a talent manager whose firm represented John Travolta for more than a decade, died Nov. 17 in Carlsbad, Calif., after a brief illness. She was 70.
In 1971, Zetter and her agent, Bob LeMond, formed LeMond/Zetter Management in Los Angeles. LeMond had discovered Travolta as a 16-year-old doing supper theater in New Jersey a year earlier, and the firm repped the actor until 1982, when Travolta departed for CAA.
LeMond/Zetter also managed such actors as Patrick Swayze, Katherine Helmond, Mickey Rourke, Mark Harmon, Holland Taylor and Barry Bostwick, and they received producer credits on the Travolta films “Moment by Moment” (1978), “Urban Cowboy” (1980) and “Blow Out” (1981).
Zetter began in show business as an actress, singer and comedian in New York, with roles in stage productions of “Fiddler on the Roof” and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” As a second career, she became an art expert and dealer.
Survivors include her husband, Walt Unterseher, and a brother, Bruce Zetter. Donations in her honor can be made to Fraternity House, a care facility for men and women with AIDS, in Vista, Calif., or to the Lois Zetter Theatre Arts Scholarship Fund at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass.
