Philanthropy was on their minds, but epicurean delights were on attendees’ plates at UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation’s Taste for a Cure, which took place Saturday at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Following a silent auction reception that featured fine food and wine from some of California’s most prominent female winemakers and chefs, guests were treated to a three-course meal complemented by free-flowing glasses of Far Niente cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay. Event co-chair Jeffrey Katzenberg presented UTA’s Jay Sures with the 2007 Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award and celebrity host Kevin Nealon emceed a live auction. Just as dessert arrived, Mary J. Blige gave a surprise performance of U2’s “One” to round out the evening.
