COLOGNE, Germany — Gunter Theilen, former CEO at German media giant Bertelsmann, has been elected chairman of the group’s supervisory board, replacing Dieter Vogel.
Theilen stepped down as Bertelsmann chief executive last year to make room for new boss Hartmut Ostrowski.
Theilen took the top job in 2002 after high-profile CEO Thomas Middlehoff was booted out following a power struggle with Bertelsmann’s main shareholders the Mohn family.
