EMI Music has confirmed an Oct. 21 DVD release of the feature-length documentary “All Together Now,” available exclusively at Best Buy. The docu details the story behind the partnership between the Beatles and Cirque du Soleil that resulted in the creation and 2006 launch of “Love,” the stage production playing at the Mirage in Las Vegas.
CHUCKY TAKES MANHATTAN
MGM terrorized New York last week to draw attention to the DVD release of Fox’s “Child’s Play: Chucky’s 20th Birthday Edition.” The studio dispatched 20 life-size Chucky “dolls” to roam Manhattan, where they hit up LL Cool J outside MTV’s TRL Studios and danced to Jessica Simpson on the “Good Morning America” plaza.
DVD DIGS IN
The latest data from the NPD Group suggests that reports of DVD’s demise are greatly exaggerated. A new study finds that on average, U.S. consumers spent $8 out of every $10 of their movie and video budgets on buying or renting DVDs and just 50 cents renting or buying content online.
MTI Home Video has cut a deal with Digital Playground to release an R-rated DVD version of “Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge,” much as it did with the original “Pirates” two years ago. The initial deal was the first adult feature film to be edited and released with an R rating for mainstream audiences.
