LONDON — Kris Thykier is leaving his publicity post at Freud Communications to partner with producer Matthew Vaughn at the producer-turned-director’s production banner, Marv Films, the parties said Wednesday.
Thykier will continue to be a non-executive director of Freud Communications and will oversee a transition of his management and client responsibilities over the next few months, the company said.
Prior to directing, Vaughn produced such films as “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch” alongside director Guy Ritchie.
Vaughn said Thykier possesses “an innate understanding of consumers, matched with unparalleled experience in marketing and media.”
“I hope and believe that as partners we will be able to build a truly significant company in the U.K., producing quality movies with international commercial appeal,” Vaughn added.
Thykier described the move to leave Freud’s as a “very tough decision.”
“The last 15 years has been an unforgettable journey and one that I will never forget,” Thykier said. “However, I have long held the desire to move into film production and the opportunity to build a new company with Matthew Vaughn is too exciting to miss.”
Thykier joined Freud Communications in 1992, and has worked closely with founder and chairman Matthew Freud and chief executive Nick Wiszowaty to build the media and entertainment side of the business over the past 15 years.
His clients include Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Music Group, MySpace, Random House and Working Title Films. Other Freud media clients include Sky, Warner Bros. and AEG.
