The Hollywood Reporter announced Friday that veteran journalist Tina Daunt has joined the magazine as contributing editor, politics. Daunt comes to THR with years of experience as a political reporter and columnist at the Los Angeles Times. She will report to News Director Matthew Belloni. Her first story in her new role, “Disappointed Hollywood Gives Obama The Cold Shoulder,” appears in this week’s issue of The Hollywood Reporter.
Daunt’s hire comes at a time of significant growth for the iconic entertainment magazine, which has been revamped and re-launched under the leadership of Editorial Director Janice Min. The magazine has also made four new hires in its photo department, which has been widely praised for contributing to the magazine’s lush new look.
Daunt has built a reputation as an accomplished Los Angeles journalist, with reporting that has focused on everything from the County Sheriff’s Department to profiles of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars like Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Colin Firth. In the lead-up to the 2008 presidential election, Daunt wrote the Los Angeles Times’ popular Cause Celebre column, the first regular newspaper column to specialize in the intersection of Hollywood and politics with an emphasis on the industry’s critical role in ?fundraising for candidates and causes.

Meghan Quinn, Associate Photo Editor, who has been a photo editor at The Advocate and Natural Health;
Gretchen Beane, Photo Assistant, who worked as a production assistant on films and has a B.A. In Visual Film and Culture from UC Riverside.
