TNT’s “The Company” got off to a slow start Sunday night.
The CIA-themed miniseries, starring Chris O’Donnell, Michael Keaton and Alfred Molina, averaged 2.9 million total viewers in its two-hour debut at 8 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research.
A second airing at 10 p.m. averaged 936,000 viewers, while a midnight encore added another 523,000 viewers.
By comparison, TNT’s recent original drama series debuts premiered well above “Company’s” performance, with “The Closer’s” third-season premiere averaging 8.8 million total viewers and the series premieres of “Saving Grace” and “Heartland” averaging 6.4 million and 4.3 million, respectively. All three series air on Monday nights.
The remaining installments of “Company” air over the next two Sundays.
Elsewhere, ABC Family saw the return of “Fallen” on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday installment, “Fallen: The Journey,” which aired from 8-10 p.m., was basic cable’s No. 1 program in its time period among adults 18-34 (424,000 viewers) and adults 18-49 (989,000). It also grew in both demos over the two hours as well as in total viewers (from 1.6 million to 1.8 million in its last half-hour) and improved the network’s year-ago time-period viewership among total viewers and key demos with double- to triple-digit increases.
On Sunday from 8-10 p.m., “Fallen: The Destiny” also delivered triple-digit increases compared with a year ago and ranked No. 2 for its time slot among 18-49 (1.4 million) and No. 3 in 18-34 (621,000). It also gave the network its highest numbers among males 18-49 (605,000) for any original telecast in more than five years and grew during the time period in total viewers (2.2 million to 2.4 million) as well as in 18-49.
Meanwhile, Style Network notched its most-watched series debut ever among total viewers and key female demos with the premiere of “Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane” at 8 p.m. Sunday. The unscripted series, starring Kimora Lee Simmons, averaged 335,000 total viewers, more than doubling Style’s primetime average for the third quarter to date, and pulled in a 0.6 rating in the female demos of 18-34 and 18-49.
At National Geographic Channel, the season premiere of “Taboo” ranked as the network’s most-watched series season debut ever, averaging 836,000 total viewers at 9 p.m. A 10 p.m. airing built on that figure, averaging 891,000 viewers.
Meanwhile, Hallmark Channel’s premiere of the acquired movie “Stone Cold,” starring Tom Selleck, averaged 2.7 million total viewers from 9-11 p.m. Saturday. The movie was Hallmark’s most-watched August telecast ever.
At A&E Network, the second week of the new unscripted series “The Two Coreys” pulled in 1.2 million total viewers at 10 p.m. Sunday. A 10:30 p.m. episode grew slightly, averaging 1.23 million viewers. The 10 p.m. episode averaged 941,000 adults 18-49 and 839,000 adults 25-54; the 10:30 p.m. installment built on those numbers, pulling in 963,000 in 18-49 (a slight increase compared with last week) and 843,000 in 25-54.
