Tom Seeley has joined The Hollywood Reporter as the new senior vp digital media.
Seeley, a former vp editorial for NBC Sports Digital, will oversee digital editorial at THR and will report to Dan Strauss, general manager, digital, and Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group.
The addition of Seeley to THR‘s digital team comes at a time of record growth for THR.com, driven by recent Emmy coverage that included a list of “Hollywood’s 100 Favorite TV Shows” and a cover story featuring the cast of Empire, leading to more than 66 million pageviews in less than a week.
“I’m very excited to join the team that has turned The Hollywood Reporter into the premium brand it is today, and I’m looking forward to taking that content to the next level digitally,” said Seeley.
“Tom has that great combination of stellar editorial experience and the instincts of a digital native,” said Min, adding, “His experience building out NBC Sports online from a once virtually nonexistent entity into a major digital player in all forms of content, including video and social, is an incredible achievement. I believe that same drive and sensibility will continue to transform The Hollywood Reporter as we further expand on all platforms.”
While at NBC Sports Digital, Seeley oversaw content and video for a number of sites including NBCSports.com and Rotoworld.com. He was also instrumental in the growth of live-streaming sports events and led all mobile efforts for NBCOlympics.com for the 2012 London Olympics.
Previously, Seeley served as managing editor at Fox Sports Interactive and before that, he held roles at CBS Sportsline and Ann Arbor News.
