The Tribeca Film Festival and parent company Tribeca Enterprises are expanding their operations and promoting several key staffers.
Peter Scarlet has been named the fest’s artistic director, Nancy Schafer and Paola Freccero have been appointed TFF’s co-executive directors and TE’s senior vps, and Jennifer Maguire Isham will serve as TE executive vp.
The newly created positions come as Tribeca looks for new ventures, globally and throughout the year. Scarlet will continue as the fest’s main programmer, reporting to TFF co-founder Jane Rosenthal, while concentrating more efforts on new partnerships like TFF’s current Rome Film Festival collaboration.
Schafer will handle film and industry programs, and Freccero will handle production, Web site and special events. Both will oversee daily operations, reporting to TE COO Jon Patricof for business issues and Rosenthal for creative issues. Maguire Isham, who will report to Patricof, will help identify new business opportunities domestically and abroad.
Scarlet joined the fest as executive director shortly after its fall 2002 debut, arriving after an 18-year stint as director of the San Francisco International Film Festival. Schafer, creator of the South by Southwest Film Festival, joined TFF as a founding programmer and recently was its managing director.
Founding TFF and Tribeca Film Institute member Maguire Isham was the fest’s president since 2003. Freccero, who consulted with this year’s fest and other companies on business ventures and content initiatives, was Sundance Channel senior vp film programming.
