THOMPSON WAIVES
BBC director general Mark Thompson has waived his bonus for the third year running, and the pubcaster’s top executives have seen their bonuses slashed 40% following a year that has seen the BBC tainted by scandals.
‘baby’ boom
NBC has ordered a one-hour town hall reunion special of its summer reality series “The Baby Borrowers.” The special, expected to address issues involving teen pregnancy, will feature the show’s cast and producers as well as other guests. It airs Aug. 6, one week after the finale.
KOPPEL CONTRIBUTES
Ted Koppel has been named contributing analyst to “BBC World News America.” Koppel will contribute on world and domestic news as well as being part of the coverage of the Democratic and Republican national conventions.
WILLMAN TLC’S CFO
Brent Willman has been named CFO of TLC, based in the network’s Los Angeles office and reporting to Discovery U.S. Networks executive vp and CFO Neal Kirsch.
‘BREAK’ IN SWING AGAIN
Golf Channel is bringing its original series “Big Break” back for another season with a new team format. “Big Break X: Michigan” premieres Oct. 7.
‘BARE’ BACK
Fox Reality Channel’s “My Bare Lady” will return for a second season in November. “My Bare Lady 2: Open for Business” debuts Nov. 8.
FUSE LIGHTS THREE
Fuse has greenlighted three new series for fall: “Redemption Song,” where singers get a second chance at music stardom; “Tour Me a New One,” which profiles music fans around the world; and “Rock Bottom,” which looks at troubled bands as they stage interventions.
WE TV SAYS ‘I DO’
WE tv is adding another bridal series to its schedule. The network said that it has ordered six hourlong episodes of “My Fair Wedding,” which attempts to help couples whose weddings are “headed for disaster.” It debuts at 10 p.m. Oct. 26 as part of the Sunday night “WE Go Bridal” block.
CMT SAYS ‘I DO,’ TOO
CMT has ordered a second season of the Tom Arnold-hosted “My Big Redneck Wedding” and a holiday special starring Larry the Cable Guy. “Wedding” returns in October. Meanwhile, “Larry the Cable Guy’s Star Studded Christmas Extravaganza” airs in November.
WILSON DEFENDS HEIGL
Chandra Wilson has defended her “Grey’s Anatomy” co-star Katherine Heigl’s decision not to submit her performance for Emmy consideration. “All actors have to do that exact same thing every year,” she said.
