IMG SET TO PLAY BALL
Sports marketer IMG Worldwide and Olympic host broadcaster China Central Television have formed a 20-year exclusive joint venture that IMG’s lead China adviser, partner Lawrence Kuhn, said will revolutionize sports and TV in China. Kuhn said the formation of CCTV-IMG Sports Management reflects the open-mindedness of senior communist leaders known better for keeping media in check.
Mark Burnett has countersued longtime business partner Conrad Riggs. In the lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Burnett claims that he paid Riggs their agreed-upon 10% of net earnings on television projects but that Riggs is trying to get paid “on projects for which his services were never requested and on which he rendered none,” the suit says.
Lots of ‘Damages’
FX will air a “Damages” marathon Aug. 9 featuring all 13 episodes from Season 1. The pilot episode will kick off the stretch at 7 a.m.
Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa have added three executives to Milojo, their production company. “Live With Regis & Kelly” alums Albert Bianchini (vp production and development) and Christina Georgotas (creative executive) will come aboard along with David Easton (director of development).
Luke Russert, son of the late Tim Russert, will help NBC News cover the Democratic and Republican conventions.
