‘KNIGHT’ TIME FOR NASCAR
NBC has teamed with Ford Motor Co. and Yates Racing, which operates two teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, on a promotion for the network’s upcoming series “Knight Rider.” As part of the partnership, Travis Kvapil will drive the specially painted No. 28 “Knight Rider” Ford for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway. The series bows Sept. 24.
‘WENDY’ WOWS FOX
Wendy Williams has found a national home on the Fox Television Stations group. Her hourlong daytime talker, “The Wendy Williams Show,” is set to launch on the station group in mid-2009 after its six-week preview on Fox-owned stations in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Detroit. The show, distributed by Debmar-Mercury, ends its preview run Friday.
JURIED EMMY NODS
Emmy winners in three juried categories were announced Monday: Shanna Knecht and Elizabeth Tagg of TBS’ “Frank TV” won for costumes in variety or music, Keith David won in voice-over for PBS’ “The War,” and achievement in animation will go to Ben Balistreri for Cartoon Net’s “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” and Teresa Drilling for CBS’ “Creature Comforts America.” The awards will be handed out Sept. 13.
Twentieth TV is in talks with Jesse Ventura to host a court show that would be eyed for 2009, sources said. A rep for the distributor declined comment.
