Daniels joins TLC
TLC has named Discovery Studios executive Nancy Daniels senior vp production and development, based in Los Angeles. She will oversee strategic planning and execution for programming on the channel, which is part of Discovery Communications. Since July 2007, Daniels had been senior vp development and production at Discovery Studios, West Coast, where she managed development and production for all programming out of the L.A. branch.
Strong case for ‘L&O: CI’
Sunday night’s season finale of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” on USA Network marked its best performance among total viewers (5.2 million) and adults 25-54 (2.4 million) since moving to USA last year. Meanwhile, Animal Planet’s “Animal Witness” debuted big Sunday night with 1.1 million total viewers.
Geminis draw dramas
Shaftesbury Films’ “Murdoch Mysteries” led all comers Tuesday with 14 nominations, including best drama, for the 2008 Geminis, Canada’s TV awards. Close behind was Back Alley Film Prods.’ “Durham County” with 13 mentions. The awards ceremony is Nov. 28 in Toronto.
E! Entertainment is denying reports that it has decided not to renew “Denise Richards: It’s Complicated.” The network said that no decision has been made regarding the show, which had its first-season finale in July.
