TORONTO — Ty Pennington is going north to host “Inside the Box with Ty Pennington” for Canadian producer Cineflix Productions.
The local home design competition series has been picked up by Canada’s W Network, which plans a fall 2010 bow.
The series, to shoot in Toronto this summer, will feature two armchair designers given 48 hours to create a themed room using only materials that Pennington supplies in a mystery crate, complete with helpful tips.
Pennington, already well known to Canadian audiences for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” which airs on Citytv stations here, will co-host “In The Box” with Canadian designer Janette Ewan.
Also Thursday, Canadian distributor Tricon Films & Television said it has signed multi-year distribution agreements with indie producer Peace Point Entertainment Group and Water Productions.
The Peace Point series acquired by Tricon for international distribution include 39 half-hours of the travel series “Tanlines,” 13 half-hours of the docu-series “Urban Nites,” and six one-hours of “The Outhouse,” which parodies home reno series.
Toronto-based Tircon also picked up five sport and adventure series from Water Productions, including 44 half-hours of the motorsports show “GRRtv,” and 26 half-hours of “The Motorhead Traveler,” which spotlights motorsport adventure travel.
