U.K. distributor Metrodome Group has entered administration, the British equivalent of voluntary bankruptcy.
The majority of staff are reported to have been made redundant as of Wednesday.
The indie and arthouse specialist, which launched 12 years ago and distributed early works from the likes of Ben Wheatley (Down Terrace) and Sarah Polley (Away from Her), and saw hits in the 2009 foreign-language Oscar-winner The Secret in Their Eyes, had been looking for a buyer earlier this year. Its managing director, Jezz Vernon, stepped down in July.
Upcoming titles on Metrodome’s slate include Olivier Assayas‘ Cannes-bowing Personal Shopper, starring Kristen Stewart, and A Quiet Passion, the Emily Dickinson biopic from Terence Davies. The future of these films remains unclear.
U.K. accountants Cowgill Holloway are reported to be looking after the administration.
