In a move that had been widely expected across the U.K. media industry, British newspapers the Independent and Independent on Sunday are set to cease their print editions and become digital-only.
Russian owner Evgeny Lebedev confirmed the news on Friday, adding that the last print edition of the 30-year-old paper would go out in late March.
Lebedev, also publisher of the London Evening Standard newspaper, is selling the Independent‘s cut-price spin-off i, which he launched in 2010, to Johnston Press.
