Tanya Greig Perara has joined Universal Pictures as senior vp business affairs, film music and will report to Mike Knobloch, president film music and publishing.
According to the studio, Perara will lead and manage the business affairs function for all of film music, including oversight of talent deals, the music licensing team’s negotiations of licenses with publishers, labels, artists and other rights owners, and oversight over current and legacy soundtrack projects, partnering with record labels and Universal’s own in-house Back Lot Music label.
Perara previously spent three years as vice president business and legal affairs for Telemundo Media, which is part of NBCUniversal, where she specialized in unscripted programming and music, and talent strategy. Before that, she worked for thirteen years at Interscope Geffen A&M Records, most recently as senior vp emerging business and revenue.
“Tanya brings her dynamic, multifaceted experience in the music business and a wealth of strong relationships across the industry,” Knobloch said. “With the great variety of Universal films to work with and huge successes like the soundtracks for Furious 7, Fifty Shades of Grey and Pitch Perfect 2, our film music and publishing division is firing on all cylinders and we are thrilled to have Tanya join our team.”
