?LONDON – Viacom continues to take its networks to new international markets.? ?Its Viacom International Media Networks unit said Tuesday that it will launch Comedy Central Extra in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. ??
The network will launch on Wednesday in more than 1.5 million households via pay TV operator and Internet provider SBB–Telemach Group.??”The move demonstrates VIMN’s continued efforts to extending its comedy footprint as well as its commitment to providing audiences in the Adriatic region with a diverse, premium offering,” the company said. ? ?
Comedy Central Extra, part of the Comedy Central brand, will be a localized 24-hour channel in Croatian, Serbian and Slovenian. ?
?Aimed at 18-34 year olds, it will feature a roster of international stand-up and sketch comedy talent, satire, animation, as well as hidden camera shows and classic sitcoms. At launch, its line-up will include South Park, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Comedy Roast of Charlie Sheen and Workaholics.?
?“Extending the Comedy Central brand around the world is a top priority for VIMN,” said David Lynn, executive vp & managing director, VIMN UK, Australia & Central Eastern Europe. “In-depth research into the market, combined with the huge success of South Park on MTV Adria indicate that a new, specialized comedy destination will be very well received across the region.”??
Comedy Central Extra first launched in the U.K. in 2009, followed by The Netherlands in Nov. 2011. ??
