ViacomCBS’ ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) unit made three executive appointments on Wednesday to round out its new streaming leadership and “drive the company’s streaming business in advance of the 2021 launch of Paramount+, the company’s premium super-sized SVOD service.”
Kelly Day, who on Tuesday was unveiled as taking on an expanded remit as president of streaming for VCNI in addition to her role as COO, announced the appointments.
Former NBCUniversal executive Doug Craig will serve as senior vp, content strategy & acquisitions at VCNI; Angela Heckman got moved over from ViacomCBS’ U.S. team to the role of senior vp, revenue & operations at VCNI; and Marco Nobili becomes senior vp, marketing.
In his newly created role, Craig will lead international content strategy, acquisitions, programming, and operations for VCNI’s portfolio of international streaming services, including Paramount+, Pluto TV and Noggin. He joins the firm from NBCUniversal, where he oversaw content strategy and programming for Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, and MovieClips. He began his career in research at Nielsen, and later started his programming experience at Discovery, where he was eventually promoted to senior vp, programming and operations for the digital/mobile team.
Heckman, previously senior vp of digital partnerships for ViacomCBS’s domestic digital business, will now be charged with driving “business operations and overall revenue growth for VCNI’s streaming portfolio.” Added the company: “She will also lead VCNI’s overall streaming operations and will partner with the ViacomCBS Digital team to ensure business objectives are met.”
Meanwhile, Nobili will oversee the marketing strategy and operations for streaming products and platforms across all international markets. He joined VCNI earlier this year as head of emerging business in Latin America after working for Netflix, Amazon, and Microsoft.
“As we prepare for the global launch of Paramount+ and continue to expand Pluto TV and Noggin internationally, VCNI is positioned to become as powerful a player in streaming as we are in television,” said Day. “With this stellar leadership team, an unparalleled global content engine, a proven technology platform and an international infrastructure and partnerships that span 180 markets, the ViacomCBS international streaming team will deliver an exceptional consumer entertainment experience and significantly disrupt the streaming industry.”
Beginning in the first quarter of 2021, VCNI will relaunch Paramount+ in Latin America and the Nordics and rebrand and relaunch the 10 All Access streaming service in Australia as a new super-sized premium version of Paramount+. The service will exclusively feature Showtime original series premieres, Paramount+ originals and series from CBS Television Studios, Paramount Television Studios, BET, Nickelodeon, MTV brands and more.
