Vice Media has a new home in Canada.
The youth-skewing media brand has signed a licensing deal with Bell Media after an earlier local partner, Rogers Communications, bowed out of a joint venture production deal and put its Viceland channel off the air in Canada.
The new agreement with Bell Media will see Vice programming, including from the U.S.-based Viceland service, land on the rival Canadian broadcaster’s platforms, including linear channels, streamer CraveTV and SnackableTV, a shortform programming hub.
Bell Media has also licensed around 650 hours of Vice library programming, and both companies will explore co-production opportunities for Canada and Vice platforms around the world. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
The earlier partnership with Rogers fed Vice content produced out of Toronto to Viceland Canada, a 24-hour cable channel that went off the air after bleeding revenue and subscribers, leaving Canadians to only watch Vice content on Vice.com until the Bell Media deal.
