HONG KONG — Warner Bros. International Television has licensed a package of more than 80 Warner movies to Japan’s Jupiter Entertainment.
Under the three-year deal, Jupiter obtains broadcast rights for its Movie Plus basic cable movie channel. Titles sourced from the Warner Bros. studio and the Warner Bros. Entertainment collection include “The Departed,” “Blood Diamond,” “The Bodyguard” and “The Goonies.”
Movie Plus is Japan’s largest movie specialty channel, reaching 7.58 million homes at the end of March 2009 and ranking in the top five of cable and satellite thematic channels.
Jupiter Entertainment is a subsidiary of Jupiter Telecommunications, the Liberty media-controlled cable group which is the largest multiple-system operator in Japan as measured by the total number of homes passed and customers served.
