Former Cartoon Network senior executive Sam Register has inked a “multi-property” development and production deal with Warner Bros. Animation.
Register will also continue to work with sister company Cartoon Network through a first-look development deal that was announced a year ago.
Register spent nearly 10 years at Turner Broadcasting’s Cartoon Network, holding such positions as senior vp original animation, senior vp development and senior vp/creative director of Cartoon Network Online. At the network, he oversaw such program launches as “Ben 10” and “Teen Titans,” established relationships with companies like Lucasfilm for the micro-series “Star Wars: Clone Wars” and helped grow the Web site. He also is the creator of Cartoon’s “Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi” and developed “Teen Titans” and “Ben 10,” the latter of which he executive produces.
“Sam has made his mark in both the business and creative ends of animation, and we believe he will provide an unique perspective for Warner Bros. Animation as we expand our horizons in the on-air and broadband arenas,” Warner Bros. Animation president Lisa Judson said.
Before first joined Turner in 1995 as creative director at Turner New Media and took a similar role with Nickelodeon the following year before joining Colossal Pictures as creative director. He returned to Turner/Cartoon in 1997.
Most recently, Register served as exec producer of “Transformers Animated,” a new series from Cartoon Network and Hasbro Inc. scheduled to debut next year.
