Kelli Williams has landed the female lead opposite Tim Roth in Fox’s drama pilot “Lie to Me.”
Additionally, Sarah Wright is set to co-star in Fox’s hourlong comedy pilot “The Emancipation of Ernesto,” while Margaret Cho and Jackson Hurst have joined Lifetime’s drama pilot “Drop Dead Diva.”
“Lie to Me,” from 20th TV and Imagine, centers on Cal Lightman (Roth), a cutting-edge researcher in the field of “deception detection.” Williams (“The Practice”) will play Lightman’s colleague Dr. Gillian Foster, who helps him on his cases. She joins previously cast Brendan Hines (repped by TalentWorks and Sanders Armstrong Caserta) and Monica Raymund.
“Emancipation,” from 20th TV, stars Wilmer Valderrama as guileless innocent embarking on a quest to find his father amid a Los Angeles landscape polluted with excess. Wright (“7th Heaven”) will play Madizon, a beautiful young heiress who has feelings for Ernesto, a childhood friend.
Also cast in the pilot is Angela Sarafyan (“In Plain Sight”) as Sydney, Madizon’s roommate.
“Diva,” from Sony TV, centers on Deb, a dead aspiring actress/model who is reincarnated in the body of Jane (Brooke Elliott), a chubby, brilliant attorney.
Hurst (“Living Proof”) will play a handsome attorney who was engaged to Deb and soon after her death lands a job at Jane’s law firm. Cho (” ‘Til Death”) will play Jane’s assistant. (partialdiff)
