Daily Show correspondent and former Black-ish executive producer Larry Wilmore will host the 2015 Writers Guild Awards New York ceremony, it was announced Tuesday.
Wilmore, who has served as The Daily Show‘s “senior black correspondent” since 2006, will soon host Comedy Central’s Colbert Report successor The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore, which is set to premiere on Jan. 19.

Wilmore recently helped launch ABC’s Black-ish, serving as executive producer and showrunner for the first few episodes, and previously created, wrote and executive produced The Bernie Mac Show, winning a 2002 Emmy for best writing for a comedy series and a 2001 Peabody Award.
He’s been nominated for four Writers Guild Awards, including three for his work on The Office.
Previous hosts of the WGA East ceremony include Colin Quinn, Richard Kind, Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, Kristen Schaal, Seth Meyers, John Oliver, Dick Cavett, Al Franken, Mort Sahl and Bill Murray.

The Writers Guild Awards honor outstanding writing in film, TV, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotion and graphic animation.
The awards will be presented at simultaneous ceremonies in New York and L.A. on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015.
