“Yin Yang Yo!” — the highest-rated animated series on Toon Disney’s “Jetix” programming block — has been picked up for a second season.
The network has ordered 26 half-hour episodes for its comedy/action/adventure programming block. In its second season, “Yin Yang Yo!” will expand the entire world of the series: hyperkinetic tween rabbits Yin and Yang will discover they possess more powers, additional mythology of the mystical martial art Woo Foo will be uncovered, some of the old villains will have new motivations, and new villains will be added.
“With its mischievous humor, inventive characters and snappy dialogue all set against a rich, animated world, ‘Yin Yang Yo!’ has really resonated with viewers, becoming a signature series for Jetix, ” said Adam Bonnett, senior vp original programming at Disney Channel and Jetix.
“Yin Yang Yo!’s” September debut in its regular period (7:30-8 p.m.) is the most-watched original animated series premiere in the history of Jetix in total viewers (491,000) and the kid demos 2-11 (334,000) and 6-11 (217,000), according to Nielsen Media Research. Among all series on Toon Disney, the show is tied for No. 1 among kids 2-11 (0.7 average rating), kids 6-11 (0.7) and boys 6-11 (0.9).
“Yin Yang Yo!” is produced by Jetix Animation Concepts and Walt Disney Television Animation. Bob Boyle is the creator/executive producer/co-director of the series, Steve Marmel serves as writer and co-executive producer, and John Fountain is the co-director.
