Anonymous Content is expanding into digital with the help of a longtime manager in the space.
The Steve Golin-founded firm has tapped Sarah Weichel, manager of Lilly Singh and Smosh’s Anthony Padilla, to head up its newly created emerging platforms division, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
In her new role, Weichel will lead digital strategy for Anonymous, working closely with managers and producers to help develop relationships and opportunities for clients with digital and technology platforms.
In a joint statement, the Anonymous partners called Weichel “a highly respected digital executive with first-in-class relationships.”
“Sarah and the emerging platforms division will allow Anonymous to continue to discover and support creators and voices across the growing digital landscape,” they continued.
Weichel has spent more than seven years in the digital industry, first at The Collective (now Studio71) before she set out on her own. Her roster of clients includes Singh, who recently appeared in HBO’s Fahrenheit 451 adaptation; Padilla, who went solo in 2017 after years as one of the faces of sketch comedy YouTube channel Smosh; and education-focused Asap Science. Weichel, who was named to THR‘s Next Gen list in 2017, has also served as an executive producer on a number of her clients’ projects, including film Camp Takota and YouTube Red documentary A Trip to Unicorn Island.
All of Weichel’s clients are expected to follow her to Anonymous. She will be based out of the firm’s Los Angeles office.
“I’m thrilled to be joining a team of progressive thinkers and industry leaders at Anonymous Content,” said Weichel. “Together, we will reimagine the way stories reach new audiences, across all platforms, in partnership with the most respected storytellers in both the traditional and digital spaces.”
