AwesomenessTV has hired Hearst Entertainment veteran James Deutch as creative director of branded entertainment.
The newly created roll will help Awesomeness grow its work producing content with brand partners, said president Brett Bouttier. “Jim is a very talented producer and a great, creative guy — his addition to our team positions us well to do even more top-notch shows with our brand partners,” he added.
Deutch most recently served as a creator and executive producer on a number of television series, including Fashion Star on NBC, Fashion Week on E! and Tabloid Wars on Bravo. He previously served as vice president of programming partnerships at Hearst Entertainment.
Hearst Corp. in December acquired a 25 percent stake in AwesomenessTV — which is majority owned by DreamWorks Animation — for $81.25 million. AwesomenessTV operates a YouTube channel of the same name that features teen-focused shows such as The Daily Report and The Jenn and Andrea Show. The Brian Robbins-led operation has also moved into the movie business with Expelled and The Smosh Movie.
