NEW YORK – Web series network blip.tv and Collective Digital Studio, the online content unit of entertainment management and production firm The Collective, on Wednesday unveiled a strategic partnership that will bring a slew of YouTube series and stars to blip.tv.
Among them are The Annoying Orange, FreddieW, Fred and iJustine.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Under the deal, the company will distribute and monetize online content from Collective Digital’s roster of content creators, including on YouTube and other platforms.
Collective Digital also unveiled two new original online series – an animated project based on the “Fred” character created by Lucas Cruikshank and produced by Kate Boutilier and Eryk Casemiro (Rugrats, Wild Thornberries) and a series from FreddieW creators Freddie Wong and Brandon Laatsch.
“Collective Digital Studio has partnered with many of the most talented and influential online producers and personalities, and we are thrilled to partner with them to maximize opportunities for their clients with fans and with advertisers,” said Mike Hudack, CEO and founder of blip.tv. “This partnership with Collective Digital Studio is a validation of original web series and blip.tv’s role in the media industry as a whole.”
“This partnership is one more step in the realization of our plans to provide creative talent with a 360-degree solution to build their brands in the digital space,” said Michael Green, CEO and founder of The Collective. “We’ve long viewed blip.tv as an ideal partner to bolster Collective Digital Studio’s existing production, social media and distribution expertise.”
blip.tv said it is on pace to reach 1 billion views per quarter.
Collective Digital Studio’s content creators will join the ranks of such blip.tv series as Anyone But Me and Smosh.
